On Wednesday, the School of Law ran its first social event of the year! It was held for first year undergraduate students in the Common Room to provide an opportunity to meet Law students in other tutorial groups, as well as to get to know members of staff.
We provided a range of board games, which were a big hit with students! There were groups playing UNO, Cranium, Cluedo and more! Colin Moore, Student Experience Director and Criminal Justice Law and Company Law lecturer, supervised the running of a competition for ‘who can complete the campus puzzle the fastest’. Karen Hulme, our Head of School, was the winner completing the task in an astounding 1 minute and 19 seconds! Comparatively, Nikhil Gokani, who teaches Contract Law, ended up being helped by students to complete the puzzle and came in last with a snail pace of 3 minutes and 44 seconds! It was great to see some friendly competition amongst staff and students, as well as giving the chance to look at the campus from a bird’s-eye view.
The night was such as success that all the pizza had disappeared within 15 minutes and we even had to stop the monopoly game because it was the end of the social! Don’t worry, we’ll be sure to bring more pizza next time and we’ll be back with a different activity too.
If you missed our social and would like to attend the next one, keep an eye out for them being advertised via our newsletters, social media and emails! If you attended our social and would like to provide us with feedback so we can run more events that you will love, please click here.
