What is the Law Ball?
The Law Ball is an annual event run by the Events and Communications team within the School of Law. Last year, we ran our first Ball, which was was held at Wivenhoe House Hotel. This event sold out, with 75 people attending. This year we are making the Law Ball bigger and better!
When is this year’s Law Ball?
This year’s Law Ball is being held on Saturday 29 February 2020 from 6.30pm until midnight at Colchester Town Hall.
What is happening at this year’s Law Ball?
All of our students are welcome to attend this grand event. However, there are only 100 tickets available for our students, so tickets will sell out! Also attending are 20 staff members and 20 professionals from law firms, giving you the opportunity to network.
As you enter the Town Hall, there will be a red carpet. The Ball will begin with The Head of School’s drinks reception in the Mayoral Suite, where a string quartet will play and students will be given a complimentary drink.
We will move to the Moot Hall for the rest of the evening. You will be served a three course meal with wine. After the meal, there will be a speech from our Head of School, Professor Karen Hulme, and our guest speaker, Tony Fisher, Senior partner from Fisher Jones Greenwood LLP. Students will be provided with another complimentary drink to toast to the School’s Fortieth Anniversary.
To finish off the evening we will have a live band and DJ playing your favourite songs, with further opportunities for you to speak with students, staff and legal professionals. To help you capture the moment, a photographer will be present, all the images will be published on the School’s facebook page after the event.
How much are tickets? And where can I buy them?
This event will be a grand experience will cost £38. You can buy your ticket now from our online web shop! Please note that tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
How many tickets can I buy?
Tickets are available for University of Essex Law students only. However, a maximum of one guest ticket may be purchased alongside a Law student’s ticket.
Can non-Law students attend?
Non-Law students are not allowed to purchase their own tickets. Their ticket must be bought as a plus one when a Law student is buying their own ticket.
What is not included in the ticket price?
Transport to and from the venue, along with any drinks bought from the bar will not be included in the ticket price.
